This is an exceptional, all-matching example of the early-production Japanese Arisaka Type 99 Long Rifle, chambered in 7.7x58mm and manufactured in 1939 by the Imperial Japanese Nagoya Arsenal. Early Type 99 rifles—especially those produced before the heavy wartime simplifications—are significantly scarcer and are prized for their superior fit, finish, and full complement of features.

Historical Significance
The Type 99 Long Rifle is the less commonly encountered full-length variant of Japan’s late-war service arms. Early Nagoya production runs like this example were meticulously built before manufacturing transitioned to increasingly crude wartime expedients. Rifles retaining their Mum, early features, and matching numbers represent the finest and most collectible examples of the Type 99 series.
