The OD green furniture arrived with some honest field scuffs and storage wear that give it an amazing, authentic Cold War vibe. The internal steel parts were clean, perfectly functional, and completely free of deep corrosion. A true shooter’s history piece.

I’ve put over 2,000 rounds through my Primal over the last year across a dozen different firearms—everything from a .223 SBR to a .45 ACP handgun. The rugged 17-4 steel core cleans up easily with a quick soak in standard carbon solvent, and the exterior Cerakote coating still looks brand new despite getting thrown in and out of my range bags. It’s an investment that is absolutely built to last.

I'm shooting 338 Lapua, and this stuff works fine. Data are somewhat scant still, in terms of bullet selection at 338, and my results were surprisingly different than the vendor data. Overall, the powder shoots clean and consistent, and I was able to build consistent 1/2 MOA (at 200 yds) loads with 300 grain SMKs and Scenars. Not as much luck with Berger Hybrids but I believe that to be the bullets, really not better than 1 MOA. I usually use N570, and the LRT is MUCH finer grains. It was actually quite easy to trickle to within 0.02 gr on my electronic scale, which really isn't possible with the much larger N570 kernels. And, the loads I built easily matched the velocities I liked with N570 (just over 2700, with no evidence of pressure signs). The only downsides I encountered were also functions of the really small grain size. Static was really noticeable. For the same reason, I suppose, clean up was a bit of a hassle. I usually use a Redding dropper to dump a charge close, and then trickle to final weight on my scale. Cleanup of both was WAY harder than with the extruded stick powders. I had to completely disassemble both to get all the tiny grains out. Typically not a big issue, but I was loading relatively small batches during load development, so it was something I noticed. Overall, fine product, and certainly more economical than the alternatives I like.

I am very satisfied with the performance of this powder. Worked up a load for my 308 and found it performs the same as Varget for me.

A Classic Have used this for over 30 years. I won't tell you what I paid for it back then. This has always been one of the best performers in every gun I have ever loaded it for. In the Creedmoor try 36 grains of 4064 under a 143gr ELD-X. in 243 Win try 34.6 under a 100gr Hdy Interlock. I get one hole groups with both those loads.

The rotary drum rear sight assembly is in excellent functional shape. It locks into the 100, 200, 300, and 400-meter detent notches with a sharp, positive click. Once zeroed, dialing for distance on the fly at the outdoor range is completely foolproof.

I love that they didn’t weld a permanent modern Picatinny rail to the top. The receiver keeps the traditional mounting notches intact. I slipped a standard MFI claw mount over the receiver bulges and it locked down perfectly level.

You can instantly see why Tortort has the best reputation in the surplus building community. The tool marks are practically nonexistent, and the lines are extremely clean. It is a massive upgrade over plastic or aluminum 3D prints.

Works great in my 6.8 spc for 95 to 130gr pills. 23gr under 55gr bthp in 1 in 8 223 20" AR is 3/8 group or 1 hole. 6.5 Grendel really shines as well.

I was blown away by the execution of the CNC work on this block. There are absolutely no internal chatter marks or rough edges down in the fire control pocket. The upper receiver rails track completely flat, allowing the upper shell to lock up tight.
