Description
This is an original WWII-era German Model “B” radio headset designed for use in Panzer and other armored vehicles. The set features two black Bakelite earphones with metal alloy backing plates, connected by a leather-covered magnetic sheet metal headband. The headband is secured to the earphones via extended swivel rocker mounts, allowing for a comfortable and adjustable fit.
Each earphone backing plate is impressed with the designation “Dfh.b” (Doppelfernhörer, or “Double Telephone Receiver,” Model “b”). Fabric-covered connection wires extend from the bottom edge of each earphone.
Included is the standard throat (larynx) microphone assembly, commonly used in armored vehicles and field radio operations. The microphones are marked in an embossed oval recess with “(Fu)b” (Funk, or “Radio,” Model “b”). The set is complete with a fabric-covered connection cable leading to the switch assembly and plug fittings.
An excellent, well-preserved example of German armored vehicle communications equipment.
