Surplus grading can be tight, but this was a fantastic buy. The walnut stock has the typical ‘beaver chew’ dings on the butt from Swiss soldiers clearing snow off their boots, but the bore is a mirror and the bluing is easily at 90%.

There is nothing quite like operating a K31 bolt. You just pull straight back and slam it forward. It cycles rapidly, ejects spent brass straight up into the air, and gets a ton of questions from other shooters at the range.

Ordered this rifle online and I am blown away by the Swiss engineering. The straight-pull bolt action is incredibly fast and smooth. The metal finish is nearly perfect, and the mechanical lockup feels like a high-end Swiss watch.

A lot of old military rifles suffer from muzzle wear due to aggressive cleaning rods, but the Swiss used muzzle caps. The crown on my rifle is sharp and perfect, which explains why it shoots like a dedicated benchrest gun.
