Pressing a new .32 ACP barrel into a VZ61 can be incredibly stressful, but the front journal diameter is honed beautifully. The barrel sleeve pressed in tightly using standard shop tools without gauling the metal, leaving a rock-solid, concentric lockup.

I’ve messed with incomplete or lower-tier flats before and spent days filing. The Tortort receiver is plug-and-play. Every single part from my vintage surplus parts bag—from the tiny rate-reducer plunger to the trigger guard—aligned with the pin tracks perfectly.

If you want your VZ61 build to go smoothly, do not compromise on the receiver. The Tortort lower is machined like a piece of art. Everything from my surplus military parts kit dropped right into place without any headache.
Clay Dalton –
I completed my build using this receiver paired with a new US-made 4.5-inch barrel. Hand-cycled flawlessly right off the bench, and ran three full magazines at the range without a single failure to feed or eject.
Doublecluck –
Unlike early custom receivers that forced you to modify the safety layout, Tortort machined the selector detent tracks perfectly. My original Czech military steel safety lever dropped right in, snapping into the safe and fire notches with crisp mechanical clicks.

You can instantly see why Tortort has the best reputation in the surplus building community. The tool marks are practically nonexistent, and the lines are extremely clean. It is a massive upgrade over plastic or aluminum 3D prints.

Because these ship as raw, bare steel, you get total freedom over the final coating. After completing my diagnostic assembly checks, I degreased the chassis and applied a high-temp dark gray coat. The heat-treated 4140 steel took the finish flawlessly.

I was blown away by the execution of the CNC work on this block. There are absolutely no internal chatter marks or rough edges down in the fire control pocket. The upper receiver rails track completely flat, allowing the upper shell to lock up tight.
